Bright Box has analyzed the usage data of its Connected Car solution by the following metrics: the number of trips by week by country and the most popular features of the solution. The data were analyzed in the countries with the highest numbers of users: Spain, Italy, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, and the UAE.
The most active countries by number of trips
Although there were lockdowns in most countries using the Remoto solution in the spring, some countries had higher trip counts than expected for that period. In Germany and the UAE, the number of trips slightly and briefly decreased compared to the other countries. The number of users varies from country to country, so it is most useful to compare the data from each country by week.
The data from Italy, Spain, France, and the UK were quite similar throughout the period under review. In the summer, when there were open borders between all European countries that operate the solution, there was a surge in trips. In the fall, we noted a decline in the number of trips in all the countries except the UAE. This may be due to the country being open to tourism and its restrictions not being as strict as those in Europe.
The most popular features in the Connected Car solution
Bright Box also analyzed the frequency of use of the solution’s service features. As shown in the infographic, the app’s most popular features are service requests, calls to dealerships, vehicle health checks, stats of trips, precooling/preheating, and locking/unlocking doors.
Despite the connected car industry’s 15% decline in flat revenues in 2020, both the embedded and the aftermarket segments of the industry are expected to see accelerated growth in 2021. ABI Research, a global tech market advisory firm, expects 115 million global connected car shipments and a market value of US$83 billion in 2025.
